  1. Recycle / Recover the plasterboard through a licensed gypsum recycling facility.
  2. Dispose of it in a mono‑cell landfill (usually more expensive).


It is illegal to simply shred waste plasterboard and spread it to land. Recycled gypsum can, in limited cases be used. However only after following the thorough processing of plasterboard to the Quality Protocol standard and under the required specific deployment permits.  


No. On‑site burial or crushing of plasterboard is illegal because it can create hazardous gas and contaminate soil and groundwater. All plasterboard must go to a permitted recycling facility or mono‑cell landfill.
